Northwest Creek Stopping point

Got to this point from the docks. Next time I will probably park down near it to if I intend to go up this creak further.

The lake terminates here in a small pipe. Looking through the pipe I see light and hear the sound of water falling. I think with a small portage this point might be of interest when the water level is high. But from the sounds of things, the water was so low that it was flowing away from the lake. So I have doubts the a portage now will lead to anything beyond a small pond or a section of a creek.

I've been meaning to portage over this section and see what was on the other side. This is mostly normal lake creek type area. The main obstacle was appeared to be a large beaver dam about half way up the creek. I portaged to the other side and continued. The creek appeared to terminate in a pipe under a small bridge. I doubt there is much more to this branch.

I don't even know if "dam" is appropriate for something so small. At any rate, this point is right near the docks beyond the sail boat marina. This runs along side of an RV camp ground most of the distance.

I climbed up the side of the dam and don't see much beyond a small pond. I have my doubts that this leads to anything noteworthy and will probably not follow up on this location.

I've been meaning to hit this again. Got off at 96th Street north of Bennington. Went as east as possible then north up the main creek. I believe the beaver dam in the background is the same one I saw going south of the archery range. I did not continue the journey as I didn't want to over disturb its inhabitants.

Had to portage a little to get here. This seems to be an older style tunnel under 96th street that most of those tunnels to the west.

Water beyond was wide and there were numerous trees down. I think this one could go almost all the way to the northwestern reservoir with a little work and / or portaging. I think as far as prospects, this one has the best for exploring in this area.

North Creek Pawnee Road

I got on this area off of the bridge on Pawnee Road; just north of a beaver dam. This area looked promising as the water was wide and appeared to be slow. However, the reason the water is so deep is due to a series of beaver dams; there is about four of five of them. Beyond the dams the creek turns back into a trickle. So, this chuck of the creek is short and full of dams that must be portaged.

Note: This area has the added danger of being near an archery range. Not just the one viewable from the road to the east, but a series of ranges off of the trail. On several of my attempts to scout this area out I have found arrows near the creek. I would not recommend this area for anything beyond archery.
